Arghhhhh! 7 8-3 teams ahead of Utah with two of those teams just getting back into the top 25 and 4 8-3 teams ranked ahead of BYU. Arghhhh! Down with the BCS!

Alabama is still ranked #2? What a joke for scheduling and playing a team of the caliber of Chattannooga. The Tide should give refunds to their fans. Did this game improve their strength of schedule?
Utah fan | 12:34 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
Utah will beat BYU next week and TCU will be on there way to a BCS Bowl. It should be a great week for football.
Boise St. Should get an invite as an at larget to the BCS aswell
HA! | 12:38 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
No, if BYU looses they'll still clinch a spot at No. 25.

Isn't Utah the one hanging by a thread in the polls? I expect they'll fall, and fall pretty hard after next Saturday's beat down.

THEeyepatch | 12:53 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
You have to be kidding me! I know what AP stands for; ABSOLUTELY PREPOSTUROUS!
National respect! | 1:02 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
To all you Yewtah fans who insist that your yewts have more respect, why are you falling behind BYU in all the polls, despite having the same record and virtually the same opponents? I see, so you played a weaker opponent this week than BYU, well, don't look up or you might get some Cougar dust in your eyes as they climb away from you!
LES is ours!!!! | 1:42 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
Let it be heard and RISE AND SHOUT, the UTES are out. We claim ownership of LES again and demonstrate to the conference that there is onl one real University in Utah and that is "THE-UNIVERSITY OF UTAH".

UTAH 56
bywhooo 12
Utes and their fans | 1:43 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
Could be ranked higher in a poll of the worst spellers.
Back to Normal | 1:47 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
The world is back to normal. BYU and Utah fans are arguing who is the best team when each of them will not finish above #15 and one of them will probably not be in the top 25. Go SEC and Roll Tide.
Cougarf@n | 2:07 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
Re: Les is ours!!!!!!: That's a cute little parody on the BYU fight song you got there. I'd respond but I can't say I even know one line of the Utah fight song, and I graduated from Utah (and BYU). As an alumn of Utah I feel embarrased for you saying BYU is not a real university, but I feel even more embarrased for you predicting a 56-12 win. Utah hasn't scored 50 in a single game this year...although its stellar defense gave 55 up to TCU. It will be nice to welcome Utah back to third in the MWC and behind BYU again where they belong.
Y me is the ute cry! | 2:15 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
I hope that the game on Saturday is hard fought, close, dramatic, and worthy of two excellent football teams that represent two great educational institutions. I really enjoy watching the success of both schools so that when BYU wins, the 'Y's win really means something. BYU will win by 2 when a last second field goal from the 'U' hits the right upright, bounces across to the left upright, and then lands in the middle of the goalpost, teetering back and forth before finally falling back in the end zone. I can only imagine the agony of all those Ute fans! What a sweet game! Go Cougars! It is a lot more fun to defeat a worthy opponent.
Keith | 3:07 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
Neither of these two teams would go .500 in the SEC so quit thinking they are good.
Tools | 3:35 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
I'm so glad I don't live in Utah anymore, where people are so content to place second (Jazz during the Jordan era, Ute's in the final four, Utah last year, so on). I'm a ute, but am realistic. First off, BYU wins hands down this week. Guys, we have a freshman QB up against Hall at home (last home game). Last time I looked, 2 + 2 = 4. Get real Ute fans. Your playing for second place anyway. This game is meaningless. Both teams are going to a bowl (a mediocre one at best), so just relax and watch the boys play. Enough with the 50 -12 BS. You embarrass your selfs.
roll tide? | 3:48 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
Alabama will be embarassed by another MWC team (TCU) this year after they lose to Florida again
What???? | 3:54 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
uts not in top twenty! Oh well, they're rebuilding with only 24 seniors this year! Wait until 2012! They will be back.

WE KNOW WE ONLY CARE ABOUT BEATING BYU EVERY YEAR...THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE GOAL....ANYTHING LESS IS A LOSING SEASON!

WE MAY NOT HAVE A FOOTBALL TEAM...BUT HAVE YOU SEEN OUR SWOOP/ROOSTER...? GO UTAH HAWKS!!
Re: Keith | 3:59 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
You make me laugh, the SEC is way overrated and hyped. When SEC teams play good teams out of conference (and Florida International and Chattanooga don't count as good teams wait to challenge yourself their teams) they lose more than not. That the SEC is so good is a myth made in their own minds. In last year's Sugar Bowl Utah made Alabama and the SEC look silly and slow TCU will do the same if given the chance.
SEC | 4:37 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
is an over-rated joke of a conference; they live off of reputation only.

they know if they ever got the guts to schedule decent teams OOC and on the road they'd lose more often than not
dave | 4:51 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
there is no rebuilding in college sports, unless a new head coach is put in and he has to clean up the mess of the previous head coach, ala Bronco Mendenhall. What Kyle has done is continue what Meyers started and successfully at that. College is always about change.
as expected | 4:55 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
BYU is now ranked ahead of Utah in every poll; not that it really matters, because Saturday will decide the better team on the field;

for now:

AP/Coaches/BCS
TCU #4/#4/#4
BYU #18/#15/#19
Utah #22/#19/#21
Reality | 5:17 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
IT IS GOING TO BE A HARD FOUGHT GAME!!!!!! MOST OFTEN IT IS WITHIN 3 POINTS -- IN THE LAST 10 OR SO YEARS.

With that in mind. Utah 34 byu 31 is my prediction but it will be a tough game.

It is always a great game and I hope the entertainment and sportsmanship is at an all time high.

GO UTES!!!!!!!
WinSum | 5:30 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
For the record :

I'm happy that BYU and UTAH are still ranked in the top 25. Seems they have had good years, not spectacular, yet have earned national respect and credibility. That's great !

Some "petty individuals" ( 6th grade mindset types ) only feel good when bashing someone else.....sounds childish to me.

I'd bet the biggest complainers, either side Y / U, have never played....!
BYU Fan who also likes Utah | 6:13 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
I am a BYU fan so I am not exactly complaining, but can someone tell me why BYU is ranked above Utah? They both have two losses, both having lost to TCU of course. The other losses is where I have the question. BYU was destroyed at home by a mediocre FSU team, while Utah almost beat a good Oregon team at Oregon... so I ask again, why is BYU ranked ahead of Utah? Oh well, I guess it will be all settled after Saturday... I hope BYU wins and shows that they should be ahead of Utah.
AK Cougar | 7:16 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
RE: Tools. I agree with you, I am glad I do not live in Utah also. However, I am a Cougar fan, true blue, through and through.

I am a bit surprised the BYU moved as far up as they did and Utah hardly moved.

Great game coming up on Saturday. A missionary in our ward is going home tomorrow and he gets to go to this game. Yes, I am jealous. I am really looking forward to watching it with my Ute friends. I hope it is close, hard fought, dramatic game, offensive and defensive battles going on throughout with awesome coaching strategy and no one gets hurt.

Go Cougars.
Re: BYU @ 613 | 7:33 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
BYU is ahead of Utah because of the timing of the TCU loss. Both teams dropped after the loss BYU actually dropped out of the polls but they have had more time/games to recover and rise in the human polls. Utah still leads in the computers and BYU leads in the human polls but you are right, the only thing that matters now is Saturday.
Fan of football | 7:37 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
So the SEC is weak eh? well we will see alabama will be looking for revenge and Florida will win simple as that there is no better conference than the SEC and to say it is weak is and very big mistake to make this year will be a very good year of bowl games and may Florida behind the arm and legs of tebow take the title. So please people BYU and Utah have one game left that really matters before the bowl games begin and its going to be one of the best games of the year. What really needs to happen is a playoff system so teams like Florida and Alabama can pick off all you MWC teams early and get the complaining over with. Respect to the TCU horned frogs great team you guys keep it up
THIS IS WHY | 7:42 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
BYU is ranked ahead of UTAH; BYU has more national respect than UTAH.

And it does not matter who wins this game. Both teams will win their bowl game.

And TCU will play BSU in the Fiesta Bowl where neither team can do any damage to the BCS by destroying one of their teams.{FIESTA is open to two at large invites isn't it}? Help me!!
That's right guys.... | 7:50 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
strap 'em up and let's play some football. This time next week, we'll know who's the best team. Go Cougs, Go Utes! It's football at it's best.
Roll Tide Baby... | 7:56 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
You MWC fans need to back off the SEC. They are the second rated conference behind the PAC 10. The MWC sits as the 8th ranked conference. Alabama has the toughest strength of schedule of any teams in the top 10, they sit at the 22nd toughest schedule. Alabama will beat Florida in the SEC title game and go on and win the national title.

I know you Ute fans took it to the Tide last year in a game that Alabama didn't even want to play. Their bowl game was the week before when they lost to Florida.

You Utah and BYU fans who rip on Alabama need to check yourselves. We have 12 national championships and 23 (soon to be 24) SEC championships. Grab some titles before you start talking smack. And before you start in with the 1984 talk...save it! That was a paper championship at best. You were handed the title on basically a coin flip...

Roll Tide Baby!
Re: Ade | 8:01 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
Does playing San Diego State, New Mexico, Utah State, Air Force, SMU and Texas State improve your strength of schedule? Bama should be ranked number 1. Maybe you should get your money back.
Anonymous | 8:09 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
TCU is the best team ever in the MWC and deserves a chance in the title game.

Anonymous | 8:09 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
SEC is the most overrated conference in football, period! They claim their regular season is so tough so all their non-conference games are patsies like Charleston Southern, at home. And we've all bought it. If the SEC were really as good as they think they are they'd play real teams, away from home. If they are as good as they claimed they'd beat the Utes in Salt Lake, they'd beat the Cougars in Provo, they'd beat the Horned Toad in Texas, they'd beat Boise in Idaho. As soon as the SEC actually plays a real non-conference schedule against decent opponents away from home, they're nothing more than a bunch of windbags.
SEC cupcake schedule | 8:27 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
When the national commentators make remarks on the cupcake schedules being played by SEC teams now, you know it's bad. They WON'T play Boise State, they WON'T play BYU, they WON'T play Utah or TCU for fear of meeting a real opponent and messing up their Heisman numbers.

If the SEC is so confident, let them play BSU, BYU, UTAH and TCU and let's watch to see who is the better team. Methinks the SEC knows that it would be embarassed.......
MWC Whining is Embarassing | 9:36 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
You play in a cupcake conference. Get over it.

The undefeated SEC champ will play the undefeated Longhorns for the NC. It will only be disputed by homers in Boise and those in the MWC that want to be a part of the BCS.

The y continues to be a sham, the u has shown it is far from being a powerhouse and TCU owned by the Big 12.

The frogs are playing with left-over recruits from OU and UT.

Hook'em Horns!

Utah will be exposed in Provo like they were at TCU

Air Force had the #2 pass defense in the country and BYU shredded the Falcons defense
Re: BCS people. | 11:50 p.m. Nov. 22, 2009
We don't talk smack till you guys come talkin all this rubbish in a MWC news paper. Enough SEC and Big 12 nonsense. You dont realize times are changing in college football and the playing field is leveling. But hey keep hanging your hat on reputation. It's the only thing going for ya in your fight to drown out the up-starts when they embarres you.

And please! "Alabama didn't want to play that game." Most rediculous excuse i have ever heard! It's the sugar bowl for petes sake! The Tide will get schooled by florida like they do every year and i will enjoy every minute of it. GO GATORS! Looking forward to watching Nick Saban flip his biscuit for another few hours!

AND ABOVE ALL, GO 'YEWTS'!!!!!!!!!!

Roll Tide Baby, what excuse are you poor Tide fans going to use this year when TCU hands you your lunch? I'm so tired of hearing they didn't want to play Utah last year. That has to be the all time lamest excuse for getting beat I have ever heard of. No the MWC isn't as good as the SEC top bottom, but you aren't playing the bottom in the bowl games, your getting beat by the top. GO FROGS, Tide Fans, get working on your lame excuses.
Go UTES
Tarheel/Carlisle Ute | 6:44 a.m. Nov. 23, 2009
The polls reflect where and what the MWC conference deserves. TCU is the undisputed power having beaten every MWC team - decisively. We can talk about how a win is a win; that characterized the Utes last year. Their close wins built character that in the BYU and Alabama games gave them the confidence along with their talent to decisively win.

But TCU's 4th rank and claims to the BCS championship game are much more justifiable that Ute's claims from last year prior to the Sugar Bowl. TCUs games with Clemson and Air Force were competitive, but Clemson was the only team to lead TCU in the 4th quarter. No doubt TCU has character, certainly gained following their loss to the Utes last year and their successes this year. But if you had to be a little worried about TCU; that is how they will react if they get behind a good team in their BSC bowl game. — we saw how most teams, notably BYU and Utah reacted to TCU this year —utter defeat.

GO UTES beat BYU — congrats to TCU.

BamaFan | 9:59 a.m. Nov. 23, 2009
"schedule some OOC games from the Mountain West Conference"..?? Alabama did schedule a home in home with BYU a few years ago. I believe it was 27-0 Alabama before your band got sat down. We played scrubs in the 2nd have and blew you out. The SEC wont schedule any weak MWC teams becasue they play in an expanded conference. Alabama has played two top 5 OOC teams (went 2-0) in the last 2 years in opening games. Everyone schedules a team like Tenn Chatt in their schedule at some point.

Like a poster said above... Alabama has 12 national titles and 23 SEC Championships. Come in and run smack when you can compete year in and year out with that.
SEC Hiding | 10:06 a.m. Nov. 23, 2009
SEC hides behind BCS. National playoff would expose the SEC for who they are. If they realy thought they were that good they would be in favor of a playoff scheme because they would dominate and make more money than they would in the BCS bowl game. A play off would me 2 or 3 high profile games for at least one team and if they realy were that good, probably two teams. That 6 games in a bowl game situation. It is all about fear of what is real.
Bored with Bravado | 10:51 a.m. Nov. 23, 2009
You trash talkers bore us former players with your wanna-be trash talk. The game is played, won and lost, on the field. Know that most current and former players on both teams that most of you Wind-Bag about (BYU & UTAH) respect one another. Ignorant and vocal "fans" are held in in low regard by all but the most ignorant players, which are often side-liners themselves.

And, as I live in the south myself now, the SEC is solid but the Arkansas-Florida game this year alone shows the vulnerablity of any #1 from any conference. It's not a popularity contest boys and girls.

If the MLS Cup were decided on "votes" and "strength of schedule" Real Salt Lake soccer would be, in what, ... 8th place? ... Ooh-ooh! I like that team! I think they're the best! I'll vote for them! Yeah! They're the champs! Yes they are! Yeah! My team wins ... the vote! ... Ignorance!!!

TRUBLUBYU | 11:36 a.m. Nov. 23, 2009
I cannot see how any BCS teams can brag on how many national championships they have won. As the BCS is set up, no other team can now compete for the national championship regardless. Until we have a playoff to determine the true championship the BCS has free reign to always claim they won it. Other teams, in spite of being exceptionally good, will never be put into the championship game as long as the unfair BCS dominates on who is chosen.

"Alabama did schedule a home in home with BYU a few years ago. I believe it was 27-0 Alabama before your band got sat down. We played scrubs in the 2nd have and blew you out."

as usual, SEC fan fantasy doesn't jive with reality

...with 7:02 remaining, Alabama snapped a 24-24 tie; final score 38-31 Alabama

Alabama chickened out of their scheduled return visit to Provo

I wonder why?

btw, you gots good engerlishes
mwc fans please stop talking | 1:37 p.m. Nov. 23, 2009
about how other conferences are weak. MWC can claim 1 good team a year and 2 decent teams and they only reason those two are in the top 25 is because they play in the MWC. People are right the SEC has big names but not a lot of the programs are competing at the top. Flordia is good but not as good as they were last year. Bama is good but not great. TCU can play with anyone in the country but would lose a few games in another conference. Yes, Utah proved last year that they can beat a good team but the MWC conference has not proven over time that they can win the big games against top opponents.

I thought it was very telling when they said the ute's had never lost to a top 25 team and how they were 7-0 in those games. That just shows how few of games they have played against top teams. Most teams play 3-6 ranked teams a year. I bet most of those are BYU or TCU
