Nice job Mtn Crest, let's hope you get it done next week and Dixie gets it done against Springville. After last year's football playoff and baseball tourney, we could have a great competitive rivalry building up.
Region 6? | 10:25 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
How many years has it been since a team from Region 6 has made it to RES?
Re: dixie? | 10:36 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
there is no way that dixie is going to beat a power house football team like springville has.

DEVILS ALL THE WAY TO THE SHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no doubt in my mind that is happeing this year.

Mountain Crest have shown themselves to be the real deal. Highland was (is) a good team with 7 straight wins and a blow-out victory in their first playoff game last week. For MC to dominate in the 2nd half the way they did says a lot about them. especially after the way they also dominated their first playoff game last week. Timpview has also played very dominately. As the 2 best 4A teams, it's too bad that the schedule has them meeting next week in the semi's instead of in the championship game the following week. Most objective observers would rate them as the two best 4A teams. The Deseret News weekly published rankings also agrees. Hopefully, the scheduling people will get it right next year. It's possible the same issue exists in 5A scheduling this year.
Sky View Fan | 11:11 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
After watching both MC and Springville in back to back weeks there is no doubt that MC is the better team and it's not really close. If the game is tight they go into halftime and their coaches make great adjustments and they roll. Next weeks game against TV is the two best 4A teams in the state and should be a great game. With TV winning so much lately I am pulling for MC to bring the championship back to Cache Valley!
wow | 1:19 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
looks like those farm boys from up north really showed your traditionally great highland rams how to play football. all that talk about highland improving? well mc scored 48 points, just like the last meeting, so the D hasnt stepped up any. oh and you managed 7 points this time. you managed 2 and they spotted you some garbage time tds.....much improved highland. turn in the pads
class-less | 1:21 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
i was in awe as to some of the low cheap shots i saw during this football game. from running your mouths during the pregame cheer all the way to end, even when the score was....48-7. you lost!
Timp Chickens. | 2:12 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I've been waiting on year to put a beat down on the Timp Chickens. Just like Alta, PG or any DECENT team can and will do. Sorry Timp Chickens this ain't Region 7 anymore Toto.

MC wins - Kuresa = MR. Football.

Hey HIGHLAND!!!... echo... echo... echo... where is the trash talk now?
Last Time.... | 9:22 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
For the last time.......the brackets rotate every year. It wasn't something that was set up to pit these teams against each other. The best team will win either way so it doesn't matter. Who knows maybe the winner of TV/MC will take Springville or Dixie lightly like Alabama did the Utes last year, and will lose? That's why you play the games as scheduled.
FNR | 9:23 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Nice win Mustangs! I was sure nervous going into halftime. Highland came out and played tough! But way to show them MC football that second half! The third time is the charm against Timpview right? Hopefully!
Bleed Black | 10:55 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
If you even paid attention on friday night you would have realized that mc was in the HIGHLAND endzone when that trash talking started. Your "classy" boys purposely lined up there for some pregame smack talk that almost resulted in the fight. And as far as I can tell no one has said region six is the best. Individual teams within the region talk trash so don't attack the whole region when every team in every region runs their mouth at some point.

Great game by the Stangs. The coaches at MC are some of the best coaches in the state and I want to thank them for the time they put in to help these kids. To all MC fans: Let the kids do the talking on the field. Timpview is tough and doesn't need any more motivation. Best of luck Thursday!

Gonna be a good game!!!!!!!!!!!
Cache | 12:32 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
The TV-MC game is the State 4a Championship. Why the the UHSAA doesn't seed the #1 and #2 on opposite brackets makes no sense. Just wait til the season is over, the seed the brackets. Please tell me why Dixie -who cannot win the 3A region- gets 2 home games. Lastly, Springville and Dixie should be playing in a consolation bracket, not for a state champinship spot. Please, UHSAA seed at the season's end.
congrats to all | 12:59 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
great job mc! that was the definition of a team victory, both D and O played tough. however i would like to give props to the other team in black and white, and i'm not talking about highland either.....
knizst | 1:04 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Thursday's game will be great. Two good teams going at it. To the MC fan who referred to the "Timp Chickens" do you need to be reminded who knocked MC out of the tournament the last two years? Do you think that the MC fans of those years were as over confident as you seem to be. When you show respect to your opponent you avoid the humble pie that is served after a loss. I have great respect for MC. They seem to be a well coached group of very talented athletes. As a fan of Timpview, believe that the T-birds will win, but there is no way I would ever disrespect any opponent in a semi-final game. The fact that a team has reached the semi-finals should indicate to you that it has talent and should not be overlooked. Timpview is at least a good a program as MC and I predict a good, exciting matchup. Call us chickens at your own peril. But I don't want to read a bunch of lame excuses if you lose. Provo and SF also did a lot of talking before their losses to us.
cache guy | 1:44 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I guess we know who the better team is and now we know where the game should of been played. so thanks for making us drive all the way down to Highland just to watch a blow out.
re last time | 3:16 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
if the brackets rotate every year, how is it that they have played in the semi's for the last 3 consecutive years?
re: re last time | 3:47 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
The reason is because MC has not won the region the past three years. The rotation is based on seeding not teams,
smile on my face | 4:38 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I don't care if it is Mt Crest, Skyline, American Fork, or any Region 6 team, I just LOVE it when highland loses.

For all of you MC fans, it doesn't matter, your season ends next week.

re: re last time | 5:22 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Mountain Crest has to won the region the past 3 years. last year they won it outright and the year before that they shared it with skyview.
Re: Re last time | 5:48 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
You are right that they shared the region title, however, Sky View got the 1 seed that year and MC the 2 seed. That is why MC ended up on the same side of the bracket with Timpview that year.

Just remember...to be the best you have to beat the best.
Seeding | 7:48 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
To the MC fan who can't get over the fact that they have to play Timpview in the semis. You obviously don't have a lot of confidence in your team and 2nd place seems to be your goal. Also you need to remember that regions were realigned this year and TV was in a different region last year. It is just the luck of the draw. You are probably also the same person who complains about the BCS. You are trying to create the same thing in HS football.
just a fan | 8:25 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Last week was an awesome game. The boys as MC really know how to play ball and so far has played in a completely different league than their opponents. I am very anxious to see the game on thursday this week. The fact that we are playing TV in the semi doesn't matter, because whether it is the semi or the finals we have to win them to win the title. I am confindent that we can and will do that. TV is obviously a great team, but I know MC has it in them to take the win. MC seems to do whatever it will take to win this year and this weeks game will be no exception. This should be their year. GO MUSTANGS!!
