2 Utah hotels receive Five Diamond Award

There are only 87 hotels in the nation that received the highest 5-diamond rating, so it's not that embarrassing that Utah has 2. It's pretty rare.

Only 24 states and D.C. have hotel properties that achieved 5-diamond status. 9 of those states only have 1 hotel at 5-diamond level.

Boston (and entire state of MA) only has 1, Seattle (and entire WA) only has 1, Chicago (and entire IL) only has 2.

Once the St. Regis and Waldorf-Astoria hotels in Park City have been open a couple of years, it's very possible Utah will end up with 3-4 hotels with 5-diamond status. (They require hotels to be open a couple of years before they can achieve 5-diamond level.)
