The best way to avoid "too big to fail" is to not allow the mergers and acquisitions that lead to very consolidated industries. When any player in an industry gets a lot larger than the other players, the almost universal response is for the other players to consolidate before they get swallowed up on less favorable terms. The SEC and others need to say no before companies get too big to fail...

Government meddling continues to have bad consequences. Their "too big to fail" bailouts have made bad companies even bigger. Government rewards bad behavior. Free market rewards good.

This should have never been an issue or reason for any bailouts. Bailouts have only delayed the inevitable and government must stop its spending spree. It may already be too late to save governments own neck in its outlandish borrowing spree from foreign governments. There is no such thing as too big to fail, especially by their own making.

These companies must fail if even if it means the world and US economy will further depress. Otherwise new more solvent business will never be allowed to grow. These corporations made their own bed so let them work out their own problems and not raise taxes and spend on these failures. The free enterprise economy will take care of itself without government interference which only makes it worse.
