I hope you read the legislation carefully, and know what it is that you are supporting. If indeed, you are supporting it.

Any Republicans care to comment on this little dose of reality? I didn't think so.

Interesting that this is run and there is no indication of what the owners see as the answer. I for one don't want gov't dictating my health care. How about we do the following and see what results?
1. cap legal awards
2. Allow all health insurers to compete in every state
3. Require those without insurance to report to work for the town,city,state or federal gov't to work in some capacity until they can get another/better job.then provide them basic coverage.
4. Require that you must be a citizen to receive health care in emergency rooms nation wide
5. Stop allowing citizenship to childern of illegals even if born in the US, after all the mother is not a legal citizen
6. Stop allowing politicians the use of social security contributions, lock them up and start earning a return on the funds.
7. Require politicians to have the same coverage they require we have.
8. Enforce laws already on the books to reduce fraud in the health care system
9. Throw out any politician who doesn't support the 8 items above.

Enough said lets have some action!!!!!

Imagine you are disoriented and brought by EMTs to the ER. Before they can treat you, proof must be provided that you are a citizen.

Imagine that at age 20 because of a negligent act you are totally impared and require full-time supervisory nursing assistance and legal damages allow you to collect no more than $200,000 for the rest of your lifetime.

Imagine that you are one of a few customers of a small insurance company based in another state and you have a dispute that is contractually bound to be settled under their laws in their jurisdiction.

Now imagine we elected the representatives that Craig 3:41 thinks would be best.

The current house bill will increase the cost of health insurance and will do nothing to control the cost of health care.

Craig actually has a lot of 'common sense' ideas. I work in health care as a provider. I am tired of medicaid/illegal patients using the ER as a primary care facility (non emergent). Instead of paying that thousand dollar bill for otitis media (that they do not pay) they could go to a pcp and be charged

Are you actually claiming that these two owners accurately represent the millions of small businesses across the country? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but in the end it's just an opinion; that doesn't make it a "reality".

Oh wait, you wanted that from a Republican!

I was a small business owner for twelve years. The cost of health insurance resulting in me closing my business and becoming an employee of a large corporation because the health insurance costs made my business unprofitable.

Healthcare is not expensive because of the high cost of insurance. Insurance is expensive because healthcare is expensive. Changing the claims payor to the gov't won't make healthcare less expensive. We should focus on lifestyle choices like reducing obesity and tobacco use to lessen healthcare costs. Moreover, we ought to manage or lower our expectations because if we don't the gov't surely will by rationing care.

Maybe if the state and federal government would involve themselves in health care fraud by the medical industry then insurance costs would come down to affordable levels, even for small business and employee share the cost programs.

It is mind blowing that every state and federal agency is letting the medical industry run rampant with fraudulent and immorally cost being billed to insurance companies. If the state would even ask any medical industry billing department employee, the fraud is very transparent.

This fraud is also rampant in the pharmaceutical industry and prescriptions. I found out that paying cash for prescriptions is cheaper than what insurance is billed. If that isn't fraud and criminal then we have some very irresponsible Attorney Generals in government.

But I am sure the state and federal government already know how fraudulent health care billing is but that can't be taxed. However developing and deploying state and federal insurance programs they can use it to raise more taxes and funds for government coffers as usual.

I admire Betsy Burton and have for years. Great bookstore and great resiliency in the face of the big chain stores. However, I believe she is dead wrong on health care reform as it stands in the current HR bill being voted on today. I agree reform is needed, but this is not reform. It would be a change for the worse overall, and as I read it would lead to higher costs and lower quality care. Nowhere do I see the kind of advantages she is looking for. And why on earth do we expect the federal government to run heath care more efficiently when every single program they have is laughed about because of their inefficiency, waste, fraud and high cost?
