In keeping with a longstanding Deseret News policy of not publishing stories the day before or the day of the election, no comments will be posted on election stories Monday or Tuesday. The rationale for this policy being applied to comments is to prevent the last-minute dissemination of untrue allegations against a candidate that could influence voters.

While its true that voting is a powerfull tool for the gaining and keeping of freedom, it is equally true that an ignorant vote , one that is based on no, or little knowledge of the candidates is severely damaging. When we encourage voting for no other reason than "its our duty" we open the door to the familiar, evasive and non-answers to the most fundamental questions. If were not informed we should stay home!

Besides being a privilege and duty, citizens are encouraged to vote to benefit themselves. Voting is a unifier in a divided country.
