It's a good thing that he was caught before his acts progressed to a more violent crime like murder, it is unfortunate that these women went through what they did, but in all actuality they are putting themselves into the situation by being prostitutes. I hope that they have learned their lesson, and are able to find a different line of work. Good luck ladies in you lives. I hope that you are able to move past this.

I didn't think this happened in Salt Lake City. Isn't this the Mormon capital?

Yes it happened in Salt Lake City, and believe it or not, not everyone in SLC, or even Utah is LDS.

Take your trolling elsewhere.

Should be a better and safer way for policeman to identify themselves. Also by now the prostitutes ought to know the S.L.C. police department on sight. Wake up people!

One of them was assaulted 3 times. Life must be hard to put yourself in that situation. I feel sorry for these women. Being put in the situation must be some form of mental state. Too bad any women have to sell themselves to survive and shame on men who take advantage of them.

Violent predators often prey on sex workers. We read about this type of crime often, but what is being done to stop this violence? When are WE going to do something to stop it?

These women are not in danger simply because there are violent criminals like John Clayton Lepore scheming to defile them. Violence against sex workers is exacerbated by the fact that these ladies fear those who are sworn to protect them and serve them - the police. Fear of being jailed keeps many sex workers from reporting violent crimes that are committed against them.

What would improve the relationship between police and sex workers more than decriminalizing prostitution? If the idea of legalization rubs you wrong, then perhaps consider making it a minor offense - like a traffic violation punishable by a ticket rather than jail time. Or, perhaps we could do what Rode Island did and criminalize street prostitution, but decriminalize indoor prostitution. It's worked in Rode Island for 20 years!

I believe this man was married with children and grandchildren. Sympathy to his family.
