In general the team has had a better cohesion this year...the gaffes that have plagued the team since its inception continue however...loved the fight vs. Houston...the buildup and finishing of both RSL goals were fantastic...3 brilliant hits by Davis...sometimes it's not that you are bad but that someone else is better...

Dallas will give up goals, RSL just needs to make sure JC doesn't get too much space...

Disappointing at times this year, but it's still been a great ride and should have an exciting conclusion...even if we miss the playoffs we can take it out on the Colorado Floaties....

At what point exactly does Checketts and Bill Manning realize that Jason Kreis and his assistants just aren't good coaches???

To take one of the best squads in the league and be in this situation, it is only their faults. Its the system, the subs, the lineups and the tactics that are at fault - that rests with the coaches.

That is what will help. Also, maybe some Sunny D or Capri-sun.

So Dwayne,

Who do you think put this squad together? Answer: Kreis and his assistants. So by saying they are one of the best squads in the league you are admitting the coaching staff is doing something good. Now I agree Kries has some learning to go through still. But I am seeing progress on the filed every year. Maybe not as fast as I would like but it is trending in the right direction.

It is true we are sitting outside of the playoffs right now but if you look at the table, the team with the highest point total that has played the same number of matches as RSL has 10 wins. RSL has 9. It is not like we are being blown out of this thing. Switch 1 loss for a win and we are in the playoffs.

Although Kreis' tactics have lost us some games, at other times it has won us some games. I buy season tickets to be entertained and I can't say I have much to complain about this year with the play I have seen at Rio Tinto, and I only expect it to get better.

When will Checketts realize that he doesn't pick good coaches? Good guys, just not good coaches.

That's definitely part of it. They should also make sure all the players' moms are on the sidelines at the games to cheer them on and hold them when they get hurt.

Moms + orange slices + Sunny-D's + ties = a fun time for everyone!

I have to agree with JM, it is hard to say this team hasn't entertained me for the 85% (ish) of the games I've been to. In the past I couldn't always say that.
I would hope that if we don't make the playoffs at least we should be able to keep Colorado out of it. I have a question for everyone. Does anyone know where I can get a no diving sign? I'm gonna be right by the corner for the last few games and would love to hold it up everytime Connor or Angel dives. Thanks.
If we can stay withing 3 points of Colorado and they would be in the playoffs until the last game we could still make it.

Ditto that.

Couldn't agree with you more. I couldn't buy season tickets this year because I am currently serving a 6 month tour in Iraq, but I will be buying season tickets when I get home this April! GO RSL!
A tip from an old soccer coach | 9:15 a.m. Sept. 25, 2009
When I used to coach soccer I'd take the team to Burger King after the game and everyone who scored a goal got to wear a crown! That made them want to score a lot of goals! We never had meetings. That is a stupid idea. All you have to do is tell the players to kick the ball toward the net and the goalie is the only one who can touch the ball with his hands!

Please let this game end in a tie. I cannot stand the thought of one team losing. My eyes are welling up as I write this.

Criticism of Kreis is overblown.

He is a young coach and is gaining experience. The upside of developing familiarity and stamping his imprint on the team is huge and will pay bigger dividends so long as Checketts doesn't make any reckless changes. Who is in the frame as a replacement? Fabio Capello for $10m/year? Even that is no guarantee of success.

Nobody walks through the door and is handed success on a plate - in soccer you have to earn every step of the way. This makes every goal and every win and every trophy so much more highly prized than in any other sport.

Even tied results are misleading - look at Colorado. Two last minute penalties for consecutive ties against San Jose keep them in the playoff race, just. But that hurts both sides. 3pts from a win and a loss is better than 2pts from two ties and that could be the difference at the end of the season.
