There is still hope.

Needing 3 points Kries again stayed with 4 in the back?? But I have to say I really do feel that this team can get 3 points in Dallas and a tie in Houston. So the playoffs are still possible.

Why do these guys have so much trouble on the road?

I agree...there is still hope. They can turn the stadium into a convention hall and draw big business to Sandy.

I love draws, everybody wins and no one loses! Go Soccer!

Ya, but not much.

The first half and a good portion of the 2nd half left me wondering just how much RSL spends practicing triangles and passing in motion. Will Johnson was TERRIBLE. That guy couldn't hang on to posession to save his life. Surprising.

I will say this - that goal by Rolfe(?) was absolutely brilliant. Even watching the reply, I don't know how he did that with two guys draped on his shoulders. Wow. They deserved the draw.

It wasn't a "beautiful chested ball". It was a hand ball but neither offical was in position to see it.

Aaaahhhhh! Does this team even want to go to the playoffs. We were tied for the 8th playoff spot and the other teams have 2 games in hand and RSL played like they didn't care, at least in the first half (that's all I could see up here in Washington). If they don't change their road whoas real quick, they'll be watching the post season from their living rooms. Where's the passion, where's the guts, where's the glory? RSL, stand up and make a statement. Aaaahhhhhh!

Crossbar kept us out of the final last year and maybe out of the playoffs this year. Yura's strike was superb, but for the crossbar.

Why does Real habitually start slow and come on strong in the second half?

Is it the altitude having an effect? Is it that Kreis is inexperienced and still learning on the job? Is it that the players are a bit too middle class and comfortable?

1-1 was a tactical defeat against a Chicago team which is good on the road and trying to keep momentum rolling to the playoffs.

That's the thing about the league table, it doesn't lie - if at the end of the season RSL are ninth, they are the ninth best team and no argument. But if they are eighth and win the cup the regular season is completely devalued as a spectacle.

Why in the world is Yura not starting? Are we punishing him for leaving the team next season?

Great fight in the 2nd half. I agree with the other comments, RSL matches up well w/ the Texan teams, so I think we can get points out of both matches...I think it's obvious that Yura was being left out cuz of the transfer, but he still plays with passion...I do think he should have finished one of his 2 chances just left of the goal, anything at the keepers legs probably would have bounced in...still, great effort off of the post, and Olave's goal was sick...
A draw is better than nothing and considering the absentees from the midfield the result shouldn't be terribly surprising...Watch for the sign then our prisoners will be released...you shall all perish in flame!

Real hasn't seemed to figure out that when you have the ball deep on the wing that you need to get someone in the box to pass to. How many crosses were to no one? Too many to count and some were very nice, if there was a foot or a head at the end of them. Also, Beltran was awful last night - it shows how much he benefits from good play in the middle when Beckerman and Mathis are doing well in possessing the ball.

I think stubborn kreis is pissed his best player is leavin so he is punishing him. I hate kreis!!
Dema's Puppy | 7:09 p.m. Sept. 13, 2009
Little children, Yura was injured. He's playing now that he's back up to speed. Why would Kreis endanger *his own job* to exact revenge against Yura? If Yura was healthy and Kreis' best option, he would have played. Campos scored the winning goals in the last two games -- that's why he started ahead of Yura: he earned it.

Agree on the wasted crosses. How many precision balls were played across the box w/o anyone running on to them? I can think of at least 3 that should have been goals. Maybe if we can get someone on the end of these passes, we can go better than 10-10-10.

Unless we get at least 4 points out of the Texas games, I'm all ready to call it game over for Jason Kreis, supercoach.

If we don't make the playoffs it's time to say goodbye to kreis.
Arm trap | 10:19 p.m. Sept. 13, 2009
RSL was truly unlucky in that game. Rolfe traps the ball with his arm (I wouldn't call that brilliant) and scores. That is called a handball 999 times out of 1000. I called it from a mile away without instant replay.

Yura misses an easy goal late in the game and then cracks one off the post. Lucky Fire, unlucky RSL.

Then again if we were a better team bad luck would maybe cost us first place, not a playoff spot.

Pile up the RSL players in the minivan and give them orange wedges because this season is over.
scott | 1:40 a.m. Sept. 14, 2009
RSL has skilled players, that's the thing. I think the coach is too laid back, we need someone that has a sense of urgency about the games and more experience. On a different note, over 17,000 attended, I love it.
todd from santa ana | 1:51 a.m. Sept. 14, 2009
45 minutes will not cut it. I have never seen a team like Real in a season hit so many posts. ALso pressure to start game 15-20 minutes, and then seems like they slow down burn out and the opponent gets going. I was tired of hearing Chicago how good they were. The goal was good they scored, it comes back to wasted finishing, Williams assist on the tying goal was awesome. Look, Kreis tried what he felt was best lineup. Did not help Clint went out early.

Guys trust me on this: FC Dallas was playing better even before 6 goals vs the Galaxy. They are the highest scoring team incredibly in MLS, every game they look dangerous win or not. The game in that heat may be tougher than Houston who lost at home.

Worst news even is Chivas winning. DC is 8th and we are 9th. They are the team most likely to beat out because played one more game. The problem is next game they play at home 09-19 vs San Jose so figure 3 points.

Translation: No 3 points next game, season likely over...
nerves | 10:36 a.m. Sept. 14, 2009
Since we are throwing blame around. Why do we always go into an early season funk and then try and dig out of the hole the rest of the season?
Talking about our game with Dallas, was that LA game a fluke or is Dallas really getting it together? I think everyone at this point is relying on that Dallas game to be our road win, but I don't know.
I hope we get everyone healthy and off of suspensions real fast because we need everyone to finish off this push. Once we started to get a semblance of our regular starting eleven out there we were a different team.
Jj | 12:04 p.m. Sept. 14, 2009
Keep kries.
The team would be better if we had a designated player!!
RE Nerves | 12:05 p.m. Sept. 14, 2009
I don't know that the old starting ll can do it. They are the one that got us into this mess. I do like that Williams has started the last 3 games. We haven't lost yet this year with Andy as a starter. As for Yura, If you realy think he was hurt you are to trusting of the team and team broadcasters. There was a lot more going on. Yura did not sit out the last few games because of injury!

Lets fire Jason Kreis.
He is after all the only coach to get us into the postseason, and we have had our two best seasons in franchise history this year and last year. Why do we want something like that?
re: Agreed @ 9:55 | 4:05 p.m. Sept. 14, 2009
Can't we just get rid of the whole team?
play to win and not to lose | 7:19 p.m. Sept. 14, 2009
Kreis knows has a great soccer attacking mind as that is who he was...to survive the playoff push he needs to take chances and open the team to attack from the start to the end. The pressure is on him and he feels it, and is coaching NOT TO LOSE rather than PLAYING TO WIN...many coaches due except those with super teams and/or secure position.
Andy Williams | 11:15 a.m. Sept. 15, 2009
...was very fun to watch and obviously had the most impact on and off the ball!
jason | 12:07 p.m. Sept. 15, 2009
i think we should not start clint mathis. i don't think we should play him at all. we have way better midfielders that could take his place and would do alot better than him too. until kreis stops being dumb and stops playing mathis i don't think we'll make the playoffs
gowigo | 12:31 p.m. Sept. 15, 2009
Where is Gonzalez? Are we going to see what he can contribute, or letting him go to another team that will play him?
Chadders | 4:54 p.m. Sept. 15, 2009
I was a little dissapointed with the performance by Jean but he was playing out of position. He is a striker pure and simple, at least he should be.
The reffing was a total joke. What's new? I almost thought I was at an NBA event.
Beltran was awesome. We really need to move the ball up the field through him and Wingert more. We try to go up the middle too much, take what the other team gives you. They can both put crosses in the right spots and it is very effective. For a great example watch how Barca does it. They have their LB/RB make a run up the pitch and cross it into the box, one striker goes towards the near post one goes for the far post. RSL on the other hand either A doesn't cross it when they should B crosses it to no one or C crosses it and both players go for the same spot.
The big positive I saw was Findley finally crossing it. Hooray! Also I have been saying forever that Olave is a monster. I wish our strikers had his touch, unlucky not to score twice.
todd from santa ana | 6:20 p.m. Sept. 15, 2009
Jeff Cunningham could have scored 5 goals last week. He is in-form. Kreis has a nightmare to figure out how to slow him down, he is good at creating space for himself.

This game is going to be extremely difficult. This is not the "same Burn" boring and methodical any longer. Even though they have different coaches now, I hope whatever Jason can add in prep this week to the squad from his time playing there, the heat and pitch issues, familiarity with its players can give us some type of edge this week...
J Crunch | 11:05 a.m. Sept. 16, 2009
todd, we play Houston this week, not Dallas. And Chadders, did you watch the same first half I did last Saturday? I like Beltran, but he had an AWFUL first half. He settled down and had a decent second half. I agree with you on the crosses. FAR too many times there is no one in the box when a nice cross is delivered.
TODD to j crunch | 4:36 p.m. Sept. 16, 2009
someone else posted Dallas is this week and i took that for being right and did not research. Actually, that is good I would rather play struggling Houston losing at home last week and not in good form last 3 games or so-we can beat them should have last time if not for 10 men...
