" Good for you Sarah...You have my vote..The idiots who put Obama in, is living proof, we need some one like you to run this country.."

Anyone who calls those who voted for Obama an idiot and then turns around and states that they would vote for Palin really needs to go take a good long look in the mirror.

The lack of self-awareness (and awareness of the rest of the world around them) among Palin supporters would be amusing if it weren't so dangerous for our country.

What's really sad is that Gilda Radner can't be here to take some of the workload that Tina Fey is going to have to bear.....We Miss You Gilda !!!
Obama Sweeping Victory? | 5:13 p.m. July 3, 2009
Please, Lord, NOOOOOO!!!!!

Obama is doing the same thing Roosevelt did -- turn a two year downturn into a full blown depression, and keeping us in it for 9 years.

She quit.... get it! | 5:20 p.m. July 3, 2009
When you ask people to support you for office, you owe it to those who put their faith in you to live up to what you said you will do. This seems to be a running trend with republicans, do what's right for them in the moment, rather than living up to the commitments they made.

She says she is doing this for others. Bull.

Say it for what it is, no more political bs. Live up to your commitments, either in your job, or in marriage. To me, it feels like she just wants to get in on the republican speaking tour with all the rest - and bank on her current name. Nothing wrong with it, many do it. Just finnish the job first.

"Sarah Palin is great. I'd vote for her in a minute. Our president should not be a professional politician."

Your doctor need not to have graduated medical school ether. I want a person who has never held a wrench fixing my truck too.

Thanks for you demonstration of conservative logic. lol

What is it with my Grand Old Party...first we select a Democrat turned Independant, turned Repbulican who turns right around and picks who was supposed to be the Fairy Princess of the North and put them together on a losing ticket....Now after the Fairy Princess turned out to be instead the Wicked Witch of the West the GOP is going back to Oz and visit the Wizard again. Burning broomsticks people the only sensible person to run for the GOP in the Next election is Mitt Romney

What have Palin done to be considered the next President?

Mitt 2012!

For the idiotic media to now stoop to new lows. The fiasco with our current POTUS shows that they are nothing but Freedom Hating people and now to have to deal with Palin on a greater national basis. Yep, watch the media frenzy to grow to new depths of depravity.

As an Alaskan and a resident of Wasilla I found it interesting to find when traveling out East over the Christmas holidays this past year that the majority of the people that I met really believed that Sarah Palin had said that she could see Russia from her house. That, of course, came not from Sarah Palin but Tina Fey...leading one to wonder who the real idiots are.
Lindy | 5:48 p.m. July 3, 2009
There was a post about how bad things would have been if McCain had won, died and then Palin would become President-what about our situation now?! If anything happens to Obama we have a lying fool for President(Biden). When Obama announced that Biden would be his running mate, I knew our country was in trouble if he won the election.

It is deplorable for people to take shots at anyone's children, and I know that if my children had been the victims of the type of comments that were used to attack Palin's children, I would be really upset. What is wrong with people who bring children into the fighting ring? Why not have bones to pick with the adults who run for office? I certainly don't want Obama's children to be attacked verbally, even though I do not support Obama's political ideas.
Palin | 5:53 p.m. July 3, 2009
At least she was woman enough to fall gracefully. If only Palin would have taken lessons from Hillary, Pelosi and Reno in becoming constipated with her looks, then perhaps we would have had a winner.

What's the poor media going to do now that Palin is no longer a threat to them??????
Read Branchflower Report | 6:20 p.m. July 3, 2009
If anyone wants a detailed look at the Palin family and how much of a disaster it would be to let them in the White House, just read the Stephen Branchflower report that was published before last year's election. This report describes many of the immoral and bizarre actions of the entire Palin family in an effort to get Sarah's former brother in law (Wooten) fired from the state trooper (police). Illegal or not, the Palins' actions are just WEIRD!!! I will give you just a few examples:

1. Todd Palin follows Wooten out into the wilderness and takes pictures of him hunting to prove Wooten's back is not hurt and he should not be getting paid time off (but Wooten in fact had permission from his doctor to go hunting).

2. Todd Palin takes pictures of Wooten dropping his children off at school in his police cruiser hoping to get him fired (again, Wooten had permission from the police chief to transport his children in the police cruiser).

3. Governor Palin lets her husband use her office and HR resources to request interviews with and interview and pressure various state officials to fire Wooten...

Bingo! You got it! Had Sarah ran against McCain, Romney, and Duncan Hunter, she would have won the ticket. The only road block would have been Huckabee.

Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air in a Party that has abandoned it's conservative roots.
What the USA needs.... | 6:37 p.m. July 3, 2009
The USA, more than ever, needs a very effective Conservative movement. The Liberals are trashing this country. I am grateful for Sarah and all others who are devoting their time and talents to restore and maintain what our Founding Fathers built.
Weird | 6:41 p.m. July 3, 2009
It is really weird that she would resign just like that....

Tell you what, though, if she is intending to run for POTUS she did herself no favors:

* She isn't going to run again, so she is resigning because she doesn't want to be a lame duck governor.
What happens mid-way through her second term as POTUS (if she does get elected and re-elected)?
* She doesn't want to run again because of job pressures and family obligations.
How does that say she is going to be able to handle the even more strenuous job of POTUS?

Romney and Gingrich are going to have heydays with those statements, never mind what Dems are going to do with them....

Palin 2012!!!
Anonymous | 6:42 p.m. July 3, 2009
The real Sarah Palin is so brilliant that the liberal media has done everything in their power to destroy her. They scrambled her sentences into strings of incoherent fragments. They invented bizarre names for her children and put them center stage at the Republican Convention. The liberal media even took a shot at abstinence only education by inventing an out of wedlock pregnancy for Governor Palin's daughter. They made her say stupid things.

Is there any wonder the real Sarah Pain would walk away from all the lies? What will she do next. She's go figure out a plan and bring it to us.

yeah | 6:44 p.m. July 3, 2009
No more Palin! What a great thing! I just hope she doesn't decide to make a comeback or run for president. She is definitely someone that we don't need. John McCain's revenge on America would have been Sarah Palin.

I like Sarah a lot. She's been really unfairly treated. She's very smart and very capable.

BUT......I can't imagine that she could be taken seriously as a presidential candidate at this point. You just don't quit in the middle of the term and be considered as a presidential nominee.

Maybe something has happened but, I think Sarah just can't stand putting her family through this any more. Those slimes who have viciously attacked her and her family really have a lot to answer for.
R.G.L | 6:49 p.m. July 3, 2009
Palin in 2012? YES, YES, YES. Someone who has family values, no nonsence political values, and is loyal to their spouse. Now that's three good reasons to support her in 2012.
Jann | 7:11 p.m. July 3, 2009
I voted for McCain/Palin ticket because I felt they were the better choice than Obama. I think McCain chose Palin so he could get more votes from women. I think it is very early to consider who is running for 2012 because Obama just got put in office a few months ago. I hope that she would give more time to her family with her special little guy. Oh well, guess everyone starts to think about hopping on the bandwagon. We have even gotten calls for people wanting to run for govenor of the state I live in and the election is still a long ways away. I wish her the best in her future endeavors whatever they be.

Stop with your liberal tirades against Sarah Palin. I can't believe you liberals. Quit picking on a female politician that you don't know anything about! You people can't tell the truth. Heck, you wouldn't know the truth if it stared you in the face.
You liberals time in charge is going to shortly be over! "Your President" has taken this country down the tubes. Highest unemployment ever, yet, "If you vote for my stimulus plan, unemployment will not go over 8%." Mr. President, you have taken over our banking industry. 52 banks have gone belly up. Twice the number of bank failures than last year, You have taken over 2 out of the three biggest auto businesses in this country. You are attempting to take over the health insurance care industry. What else are you going to ruin before you are Thrown Out Of Office? You liberals don't make any sense. Don't talk about politics. You have no idea what you are talking about.
Sarah Palin our new President | 7:42 p.m. July 3, 2009
WE LOVE YA SARAH PALIN. I think the Republicans are committing political suicide right before our eyes. Out of Iraq's frying pan, into an economic fire. Johnny comes marching home to no job. Sarah Palin is the last hope for the GOP to return to conservatism and not this wishy-washy corrupt liberal party that has been infested with supporters of John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Guiliani. Huckabee will come out as a closet atheist. Even though I voted for her in 2008, and liked her, at that time, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she is resigning from office on July 26th 2009 ?. GOP Steele hates her guts, and would never support her as a run for President in 2012, and she don't have the funds to do it on her own. Instead of using valid arguments to challenge her [Ms. Palin] leadership idealogies, skills, the american taliban (IE: msDNC, letterman, national dnc) uses libel/slander and ethic complaints to log jam any social progress to take place in gov't. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin abruptly announced she is resigning from office at the end of the month, and will be OUR next President.

McCain supporters are part of the vast liberal conspiracy against this poor defenseless conservative woman?

As a liberal. I hope she runs. She is the best hope we have of going two for two in the presidential race.

We might have Mccain if it hadn't been for Palin.

I love this conservative position that women are too weak to be expected to hold up under the examination of America's press. Bill Clinton handle the lies from conservatives Arkansas Project.

I 100% fully support Sarah. She is a breath of fresh air. She understands one of our biggest problems. Energy. She would be a great help to this country to finaly become energy independant from our enimies. I fully inderstand why a lot of peolple hate her. She has the right values and is not afraid to stand up for them. While obama got a free pass from the medai Sarah got hammered by the lefty nut case media. Sarah and her family have been attacked in every poissbile way. It was not fair or balanced. It was disgracefull. I voted for sarah not John Mc Cain. I wll support her in any way I can. I do not think she is ready to be President however I am 100% certain Obama is not ready and is on a fast track to destroy our country. Pretty soon our government will own the banks, car companies and everything else. Our founding father would turn over in their graves if they saw this day and this president. For those of you who voted for obama lets see in a few months of you still feel good about it.
uh hum.. | 8:35 p.m. July 3, 2009
Ah sorry.. Palin was not even able to complete one term as Governor in Alaska. No need to talk about her political future. Palin supporters please name one President that resigned from a Governors office.

Its okay to like her but please stop talking about her running for office.

I like Sarah Palin but she is not Presidential. She has done nothing but attack her critics since the election. She is defensive and cannot let a negative report go by without defending herself. She should not answer her critics, and they would stop. I get tired of hearing her constantly in the news. This is the reason the media is attacking her because they can get a reaction out of her. It is not mature, and she should drop it. She could never run for president or she would not get anything done. She said she spent 80% of her time and a lot of money on these complaints filed against her as govenor. I can believe that. She just could not do that as president. She appeared to want to go on her own when she ran with McCain. After all McCain was the presidential nominee, and he called the shots. Palin openly disagreed with him, and that would carry on in the White House. Conservatives need to be realistic. You have to have more than the conservative vote to win the WH.
rightascension | 9:07 p.m. July 3, 2009
Well, there is precedent for short term governors running for president and winning.

Grover Cleveland served one term as governor of New York before winning the Presidential election of 1884. Theodore Roosevelt served one term as governor of New York before winning the vice presidential election of 1900. Samuel Tilden served as governor of New York for one term before his nomination for president in 1876. Franklin Roosevelt served for two terms as governor of New YOrk before winning the presidential election of 1932.

Thomas Dewey and Nelson Rockefeller served as governor of New York for two years before they ran for the presidency. Reagan served as governor of California for 2 years before he ran for the presidency.

None of them resigned as governor, though.

A few years as governor of Out in the Boondocks is not the same thing as governor of New York or California, either. I do not know what Palin is thinking here, but it is not rational.

Please Nominate her and if she actually got elected president you all would be wishing for the days of Bush and Cheney because things could not possibly get worse for this country

Politicians need to be reminded, when they say they will stay in office for the full term, i expect them to be there. HUNTSMAN and PALIN come to mind in GOP circles for poster children of not wanting to stay.

Huntsman was called to serve, and that is what we want from ANY US citizen. When you are asked to serve your country, you don't need to ask any questions. 4 years in Taiwan will do him some good.

Palin is just a joke, like BLago before her.
Walking the walk? | 9:23 a.m. July 4, 2009
A previous poster stated GovernorPalin "Walks and walk." I personally find it a little confusing.

Example she talks about all the waste in the federal government and last week the state of Alaska accepted $24,000,000 from the federal government to build an airport for a village of 46 people 300 miles west of Fairbanks.

Come on be realistic. Isn't this a little like the bridge to nowwhere that she badmouthed on the campaign?

She may talk the talk but in my opinon this is an example of not walking the walk.
GWB | 9:33 a.m. July 4, 2009
I truly hope she has resigned to take care of her family.

However, I fear that there is more to the story and that there may be an indictment for embezzlement in the near future. A complete look into the concurrent construction of her home and the Wasilla Sports Complex may be leading somewhere bad.
To All Liberals | 10:07 a.m. July 4, 2009
I don't know exactly where or when the study was done that proved liberalism adds to one's IQ, but your smug, pseudo-intellectual ramblings (complete with spelling and grammar errors) is getting stale.

Wake up, and realize there are smart people on both sides of the argument and plenty of dumb people to go around for both parties.

Palin was/is not ready for the national scene but neither was Obama - and that's proving itself out right now. That said, Palin deserved much better than she got from the national media and low-IQ people like David Letterman.

Now here's a fact - liberalism doesn't work anywhere, anytime, ever. If it has, please state your case.

Why would I have pursued three college degrees and risked starting my own business to live the same standard of living as some schmo who is doing the minimum and wants to take as much out of the system as possible?

Keep on fooling yourselves in assuming you have the upper hand when it comes to intellect and - ha-ha - street smarts. I still haven't met a liberal who can make change for a $5.
She has responsibilities | 11:15 a.m. July 4, 2009
Palin has failed to fulfil her responsibilities as governer. Hardly a characteristic of a good president.

Reading the papers in Alaska. She has better rating in Utah than in the state she once governed.

I'm a Left Coast liberal. Please marginalize me. We liberals need Palin to help Obama get reelected. Palin bought in $42,000,000 in donation to Obama. She's a talented fund riser.

Many Alaskans think an indictment is coming soon. Did Fox report about Palin fudging on her per diem?

There were 97 comments LAST night.

Surely there MUST have been many more since then.

What's the matter Deseret News? All the comments since then have been pro-Palin and you don't want to post them?
