The CIA allegation seems fairly absurd, but it is not beyond the realm of possibility that the young woman was killed by opposition actors with the intent of framing the government and stirring up international furor. That possibility was one of my first thoughts upon seeing the (very disturbing) video of the incident.

The government of Iran might be bad, but that does not make every revolutionary an angel.
