On paper, Real Salt Lake was a long shot to play for the Major League Soccer championship. It took a tiebreaker for the 11-12-7 Real to make the eight-team MLS playoffs.
In the Christmas song "Silver Bells," chances are the bells "on every street corner" and "above all the bustle" are Salvation Army bells. The image of a volunteer sounding a bell for charity has become as much a part of the American Christmas as caroling.
The political spin machines have been in full force this week since the Obama administration announced it was going to try alleged 9/11 terrorist mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed in New York City, within walking distance of ground zero.
