High school football week 12 highlights
Notable performance
Harvey Langi, Bingham
Gained 159 yards on 21 carries with a score, the first of a 28-point third quarter that put Syracuse away and sent the Miners to the semifinals.
Dream matches finalized
Alta-Bingham, Mtn. Crest-Timpview highlight semis
When the brackets were first released by the UHSAA, two marquee semifinals games at Rice-Eccles Stadium in 5A and 4A seemed like inevitabilities. Twelve weeks later those pairings were finalized. On Thursday Timpview and Mountain Crest will meet in the 4A semis and on Friday Bingham and Alta square off for the fourth straight year at the U.
Smaller schools in the spotlight
2A, 1A semifinals kick off this morning
The playoffs shift focus to the smaller schools today with the 2A semifinals taking place at SUU and the 1A semifinals going on at Snow College. In 2A, San Juan and South Summit are both favored to advance to next week's championship game, whereas Rich and Duchesne are big favorites in the 1A semifinals.
Notable performance
Payton Davis, Wasatch
Amassed six touchdowns, with five through the air, on a 16-of-31 outing with 421 passing yards as the Wasps jumped out to a 21-0 lead against Bear River on their way to the semifinals.
