WOMEN'S SOCCER: With a chance to secure a tie of the Pacific West soccer title, the Red Storm ran into a game Dominican (Calif.) University team at Hansen Stadium on Tuesday in St. George. An early second-half goal by the Penguins earned them a 1-0 win and ended an 11-game win streak in the Pac West for Dixie State.

Dominican (8-9-3, 6-6-2) has won three of their last four matches, including two away from home. The Penguins were outshot 15-5 in the match, but made the most of their opportunities making each of their shots at goal. Dixie State (12-4, 11-1) lost for the first time since Sept. 5 against West-region power UC San Diego.

Mallory Englehardt gave the Penguins the game-winner early in the second half with an unassisted goal into the right corner in the 53rd minute.

The first half was scoreless, although both teams had opportunity on goal. Dixie State's Mikala Wilkes had a header right in front of the goal that was tipped over the crossbar by Dominican goalkeeper Alicia Paulsen. Three Dominican shots were saved solidly by DSC goalie Abby Monroe.

Wilkes paced DSC with four shots and Robyn Wall added three.

Dixie State will attempt to earn a share of the Pac West title on Thursday when the Red Storm welcomes the Urban Knights of Academy of Art University. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at Hansen Stadium.

MEN'S SOCCER: Dixie State College and Dominican University played scoreless soccer for 99 minutes in regulation and overtime. But the Penguins used the final seconds to set up a long-distance cross and game-winning goal to defeat the Red Storm 1-0 at Hansen Stadium on Tuesday night in St. George.

Dominican (8-11-1, 5-8-1) was outshot 14-8 but snapped a two-match losing streak with the overtime win. Dixie State (5-10-1, 3-9) has lost four straight and been kept off the scoreboard in the last 369 minutes.

Alec Ziegler headed in the golden goal at 99:51 after a 50-yard crossing pass from Ryan Vella made its way right in front of the net.

The Dominican goal was the second to beat Dixie State in the final minutes after Hawaii-Hilo downed the Storm with a last-second goal on Oct. 10.

Francisco Arellano with four shots and Kody Hunter with three led the offensive effort for Dixie State, which was without leading goal scorer Jordan Roylance, who missed the game with a concussion.

The Red Storm play Academy of Art University on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Hansen Stadium.
