H1N1 shot sign-ups start Tuesday at 9 a.m.
The Salt Lake Valley Health Department will take appointments Tuesday for upcoming H1N1 vaccination clinics.
Clinics will take place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 4-6, at four locations.
People may begin making appointments at 9 a.m. Tuesday and continue until all available time slots are filled. Appointments can be made online at www.slvhealth.org or by calling the SLVHD Vaccination Hotline at 801-743-7280.
Individuals who secure an appointment will be given a half-hour time slot and clinic location for vaccination. All clients with an appointment will be screened at the clinic to confirm eligibility.
Those eligible to receive the H1N1 vaccine include: pregnant women; those who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age; health-care or emergency-medical personnel with direct patient contact; children ages 6 months to 24 years; and people under the age of 64 with chronic medical conditions associated with higher risk of medical problems from influenza.
The four clinic locations taking appointments are Salt Lake City Public Health Center, 610 S. 200 East; Southeast Public Health Center, 9340 S. 700 East, Sandy; South Main Public Health Center, 3690 S. Main; and Ellis R. Shipp Public Health Center, 4535 S. 5600 West, West Valley City.
Meanwhile, the Davis County Health Department refined its ticket system for the H1N1 mass vaccination clinic scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis Conference Center, 800 W. Heritage Park Blvd.
More than half of the tickets were handed out Monday, and the remainder were scheduled to be available at Tuesday's clinic in Layton until they all have been distributed.
Each ticket represents a dose of H1N1 vaccine and will have an assigned hour time block on it. This new method of providing a designated hour-long block of time to each person with a ticket should help reduce traffic and parking congestion, as well as waiting times during the actual clinic.
Call 801-451-3333 for recorded updates, or go to www.daviscountyutah.gov/flu.
In Heber City, the Wasatch County Health Department will offer H1N1 flu shots or nasal spray FluMist from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, to pregnant women, families with babies under 6 months of age and to children ages 6 months to 5 years.
The vaccines are free and will be available on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis at 55 S. 500 East, Heber City. More information is available by calling 435-657-3307 or going online to www.co.wasatch.ut.us/health.
Also, H1N1 vaccines will available to high-risk Tooele County residents by appointment only on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The shots or the nasal-spray vaccines are free, but an advance appointment is required. Call 435-277-2462, or go to www.tooelehealth.org for more information. The Tooele Health Department is located at 151 N. Main, Tooele.
