OREM — A 3-year-old boy hit by a vehicle just before trick-or-treating Saturday remained hospitalized Monday but "should be fine," police said.

Lucas Grilli, of Provo, was about to go trick-or-treating with his family on Halloween when he stepped out next to his parent's vehicle near 1340 North and 1200 West and was clipped by a passing dark-colored truck or sport-utility vehicle about 7:20 p.m., said Orem Police Sgt. Craig Martinez.

The boy fell down, hit his head and was transported by ambulance to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in critical condition. He was later flown by helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center.

"I talked to his mother," Martinez said. "He has a fracture to the face and a broken leg, but it looks like he'll be OK."

Police are still looking for the vehicle, described as a dark-colored SUV, that witnesses said pulled off to the side of the road half a block away after hitting the boy, and then drove off. Police say the vehicle should have damage to the right front or right side and are asking anyone with information to call Orem police at 801-229-7070.
