A migrating Monarch butterfly sits on the branch of a tree at the Campanario natural reserve in Michoacan state, west of Mexico City, Wednesday. Monarch butterflies migrate in the millions from Canada to Mexico every year in a perpetual effort to avoid cold weather, but the same butterfly never makes the full journey because its life cycle is shorter than the time it takes to make the full migration.
