Kudos to great clock shop
On a recent trip to England, I purchased a very old clock from an antique shop. I was informed that the clock was in working condition and that it had been cleaned and serviced.
I brought the clock home, and to my amazement, the clock wouldn't work. I took it to a very well-known clock shop in Salt Lake City to be checked. After two weeks, I was told that it needed to be cleaned and serviced. I didn't feel good about what they were telling me. My aunt told me about a little clock shop (The Clockworks) on Center Street in Midvale. I took the clock there to be checked by the gentleman who owns the shop. After a thorough evaluation, he found several problems with the workings of the clock. He told me that he would do what he could with it.He worked on the clock for about two months, making sure each problem was properly repaired. He met each challenge. He only charged a nominal fee for his services. I would have gladly paid him double for all of the work he did on that old clock.
He called and informed me when the clock was finally repaired. I told him I'd come by and pick it up the following week. Monday rolled around and I was preparing to leave work a little early to pick up the clock. He called me and told me he had to close a little early that day and we made arrangements to pick up the clock the following day. What business would do that nowadays? The clock works fine now, thanks to the hard work of a man who loves his job. He filled me in on all of the details of how to operate the clock, as well. Craftsmen of his sort are very difficult to find in recent times. We are really lucky to have a craftsman like this in the Salt Lake area.
