PSYCHIATRIC TESTS ORDERED FOR RAPE SUSPECT

A 32-year-old Mapleton man charged with aggravated sexual assault and aggravated burglary, first-degree felonies, will undergo a psychiatric examination to determine his competency to stand trial.

Roger Giles, 383 E. Sixth North, Mapleton, is charged with threatening and raping a woman Oct. 14 after allegedly entering the victim's home unlawfully.A second charge of aggravated sexual assault has been dropped.

Public Defender Stott Harston told Fourth District Judge Ray M. Harding he was concerned about his client's mental state. Harding ordered Giles examined in the Utah County Jail, where he is being held.
