An Orem businessman arrested for selling what had been dubbed "snake oil" by the county attorney's office, has been sentenced to 30 days in jail.

Fourth District Judge Boyd L. Park sentenced E. O. O'Dell Stanley, 63, to two concurrent terms of zero to five years in the state prison but suspended that sentence and placed the defendant on probation for 18 months. As terms of probation, Park gave Stanley the 30-day jail term, ordered him to voluntarily submit to search and seizure and have no involvement in the manufacture or sale of a cure-all elixir called Super-Oxol.Stanley was arrested earlier this year and charged with operating a pyramid scheme and practicing medicine without a license, both third-degree felonies. Super-Oxol had been touted to slow aging, improve digestion and aid people suffering from anemia, diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver, and snake and insect bites.

State Crime Lab reports said the elixir contained mostly water mixed with a little hydrogen peroxide. It sold for $12.50 a gallon.
